Domain Names available for Canadians!

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Just over ten years ago, you would have been more hard pressed to find companies offering internet domain name registration as it was a more specialized business for select companies. Since then, the domain name industry has blossomed and now you will find hundreds upon thousands of different registrars offering you the ability to register a domain name. The one domain name extensions almost everyone will pick up first if given the option is the .com extension which is what every web surfer will naturally type in first when getting on the web.

What about country specific TLD domain extensions? They are available too and you can purchase everything from .co.uk for United Kingdom (UK) based companies, to even .us domain names for United States companies. Also available for the Canadians just north of the states is their own .ca domain name extension. Anyone who wishes to register their site for a canadian audience and to show they are in the canadian market will register a .ca domain extension.

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is the main controlling company overviewing canadian domain names (.ca). They control and monitor all activity with .ca domain names and if you choose to register a domain canada, you will receive an email from them after stating your registration has been processed and everything is complete.

Can you simply just go to any cheap domain name registrar and purchase a Canadian domain name or does the company who is selling you the ability to register the domain have to be located in Canada? Any registrar will work for domain name registration as long as you visibly see on their website that they offer the .ca domain extension. Most are offering the capability to register canadian domain names, but their still are companies who do not. Before making the purchase of your domain name, just double check that the price showing on the website is in Canadian Dollars instead of US Dollars. Since the Canadian dollar at the time of this writing, is lower than the US dollar you will be paying more than the posted cost if they are showing it in US dollars.
